    Letter written to E. B. Gaston from D. G. Armitage of Baraboo, Wisconsin dated March 15, 1897 asking about his land in Fairhope. He is unable to pay for his rent. He asks if the interest from his Wharf Certificates might be transferred to the Tax Fund. He would like to come to Fairhope and asks if Mershon Brothers would advance him $50 taking his stock as collateral.

    Letter dated 10/14/1897 to E. B. Gaston from Abner J. Smith, an attorney in Daphne, Alabama. Smith is writing about a debt owed by Simon VanderMulen to the Mershon Brothers store. VanderMulen says the purchase was made for the Fairhope Industrial Association, and he should not have to pay for it. Smith does not want to go to trial over such a small amount of money ($10.30).
