Keyword Search
Search by Keyword(s) or Phrases
Keyword Search accesses all Catalogs in the online collection. You can search by a word, several words, or specific phrases. See Tips for Searching below to get the best search results. If you wish to limit your search to the Photos Catalogonly, the Archives and Videos Catalogonly, or the People and Subjects Catalogonly, use the respective tabs above.
Searches are not case sensitive.
Type AND between words, using spaces. This narrows your search by only selecting records where all of the words appear. If you don’t use AND, the search engine defaults to OR between the words, selecting records where any of the words appear. Example: A search of well AND coleman selects records where both words appear.
Use an asterisk (*) at the END of a word if the complete spelling, usage, tense, plural or singular is unknown or not certain. Example: history* selects records containing the word history, historic, historical, etc.
Use quotes when searching for an exact phrase, word for word, within the quotes. Do not use asterisks when using quotes. Example: “model community” selects records with that specific phrase.
