    Letter dated 7/24/1890 to E. B. Gaston, editor, Suburban Advocate newspaper, from J. E. Lockwood, General Ticket Agent for the Kansas City, Fort Scott & Memphis Railroad Company. Lockwood is responding to Gaston's request for ticketing and connection information for a trip South. The letter is typed on the back of a Kansas City,Fort Scott & Memphis Railroad Company flyer, which shows a map of the railroad line and all stops. .

Lee discusses in considerable detail the benefits of buying acreage in the Lake Arthur area for the proposed colony in Southwest Louisiana. Gaston had recently traveled in the area, and Lee expresses dismay that he was not able to bid him farewell.

    Letter dated 1890 to E. B. Gaston from John B. Raper of Grand Island, Nebraska. Raper has corresponded with Gaston at least twice prior to this letter, showing keen interest in the proposed colony in Louisiana. Although he seriously considers accompanying Gaston on the site trip, Raper says in this letter "it will be impossible for me to accompany you on the trip to Louisiana" but he wants Gaston to keep him apprised of the results.

Reich writes to support Gaston's proposed colony, but suggests consideration of his already established town as an ideal location and outlines the benefits (railroad lines, cheap land, fairground, lumberyards, flour mill and proximitly to St. Louis, Missouri).

    Letter dated 8/17/1890 to E. B. Gaston from from Joseph Reich of Eldorado, Illinois. This is the second page of a letter sent to Gaston supporting the proposed colony, but asking consideration of Eldorado as the location. See i.5.41 for page one of this letter. Reich wrote "I am a German and have stated the truth" in the added note which comprises this record.
