Meeting Minutes of the Fairhope Industrial Association dated August 10, 1894, in Des Moines, Iowa (exact location not provided). In the absence of the President, the meeting called to order by the Secretary. T. E. Mann was voted unanimously chosen to preside as Chairman. The location report of S.S. Mann and J. Bellangee was duly presented with other matters pertaining to same. After hearing the report of the committee, the Secretary was by unanimous voice instructed to transmit to each member of the Association a copy of the report of the committee with supplemental articles by them published from time to time in the Liberty Bell and to ask them to vote upon their first, second and third choice. The Secretary also by motion, carried unanimously, to advise the members that it was the sense of those present that the choice might wisely be confined tto the following three locations: on Bayou Sheve, Southwest La., on Mobile Bay in Baldwin County, Ala and a location chosen after further investigation in Western Texas. Moved and carried that the Secretary be instructed to keep in strict secrecy the result of the ballot until definite propositions had been secured in each of these locations. The need for an Association organ devoted wholly to its interests and published from headquarters was introduced. The Council went into Committee of the Whole to consider the matter resulting in the following resolution: "Resolved that it is the sense of the Committee of the Whole that the time has arrived when it is necessary that Fairhope Industrial Association should have a paper published from its headquarters and devoted exclusively to its interests and that a comittee of which the Secretary should be a member should be appointed by the Chairman and directed to arrange as soon as may be for the publication for such a paper at an expense not to exceed $300 a year." The report of the committee was adopted by unanimous vote and the Chairman appointed the following committee on Paper. L. R. Clements, J. Bellangee and E. B. Gaston. It was carried unanimously that th Secretary should advise Wm. Wooster of this action and that an allowance of $5.00 per month in stock would be made him for the remainder of this year if he will publish in Liberty Bell not less than 4 cols. of "Fairhope" matter a month.
