Description |
Letter dated 8/11/1890 to E. B. Gaston from Charles E. Randall of Chicago, Illinois, commenting on the proposed colony in Louisiana. Randall writes a four-page typewritten letter suggesting to Gaston that he would be better served by casting lots with the Kaweah, California colony rather than starting a colony in Louisiana where yellow fever is a problem. (Randall has lung problems and said he would be unlikely to participate.) Further Randall informs Gaston that migration is a more typical east-to-west movement, rather than north-to-south. Still Randall wishes Gaston well and requests updates from time to time. |
