    Letter dated 1/9/1895 to E. B. Gaston from J. Axel Haggstrom of Chicago. Haggstrom has not been able to sell his farm in Nebraska and he is out of work, so he has not made his payments to the Fairhope Industrial Association. He enclosed a $.10 penalty and asks what chances there are of work in Fairhope in a "saw mill, garden farm or anything."

Wood of Connelsville, PA saying that he is a dentist and would like to join the colony but guesses that there is no work to justify him as yet. He is a former member of the Topolobampo Bay Colony but left because one man dictated that there would be no place set apart for the worship of God.

    Letter written to E. B. Gaston on 5/7/1897 from Wm Brown from North Wilmington (near Boston). He notes the population growth and cost of land in his area and ability of people to make money off of selling the timber on the land. Asks for extra copy of the Courier for his brother. Notes the prospect of a saw mill in Fairhope and plans to move to Fairhope in future.

Gaston from Guy Savage of Marshalltown, Iowa dated April 5, 1897 saying that he met Dr. Mershon who has told him much that has heightened his interest in the Fairhope Colony. He is a teacher and if there was an opening in that line it would be an inducement for him to become a member of the Fairhope Colony. He asks Gaston to let him know if such an opportunity opens up.

    A letter from Florence Fitton of Buffalo, New York, written to the Editor of the Fairhope Courier requesting a sample copy of the Fairhope Courier. She also asked how far Fairhope was from Mobile and about the elevation. Her father would like to know if a man , with no money, could make a living and what employment was available. She also asked if there was a chance to get land after being there six months.

    Letter dated 7/14/1909 to E. B. Gaston from Daniel Kiefer in Cincinnati, Ohio. Kiefer is forwarding some interesting printed material to Gaston. Kiefer comments on letters he has received from James Bellangee and George Bancroft, both "tales of woe" about their financial circumstances. He says these two men would not be good "samples to place in Fairhope's show window for the passers by."

    Letter dated 7/19/1909 to E. B. Gaston from Daniel Kiefer in Cincinnati, Ohio, discussing Mr. Ring's plans to settle in Fairhope. Kiefer comments on letters he has received from three Fairhope Citizens: Bellangee, Ruge and Bancroft, and discusses the difficulty of making a living in Fairhope. Kiefer thinks it is unwise for anyone to settle in Fairhope because of this problem.
