Meeting Minutes of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation for the year 1923. (Note pages 13 and 14 contain minutes for the following year, 1924 - the rest of that year can be viewed at 31_1924_1-10.) The 1923 Minutes contain the general business of the Colony; meetings were held twice per month. Some highlights include:objections to enlarging the electric plant because of increased traffic at the bayfront, printing maps of Colony lands,naming of Equality, Stimpson and Brown streets,election of officers, clearing timber on Colony lands, resolution passed that the FSTC would not take over or operate any part of the People's Railroad, issue of starting bus service from the pierhead to the center of town, Coca Cola Company of Mobile allowed to use the area under the railroad trestle for a warehouse, issue of the deterioration of the Whaf and bringing it up to the Alabama Public Service Commission's code, upgrades to the beach area, land will be needed for a public high school soon, maintaining roads entering Fairhope by the County, request by the Fairhope Public Library for additional support (monthly contribution increased to $50), Colony made $3000 loan to the Farmer's Cooperative Creamery, the Home Telephone Company will take over the Colony telephone system on January 1, 1924, no rent increases for 1924, amendment to the FSTC constitution approved allowing constitutional amendments to pass by three-fourths of voting members rather than three-fourths of members, and other routine Colony business.
