Photograph of the Fairhope Pharmacy in downtown Fairhope, Alabama. This pharmacy was built in 1916 by then-owner Dr. C. L. Mershon, and replaced the first pharmacy building, which was a wooden structure. The well-maintained street and curbed sidewalks fronting the businesses are clearly seen along with a car. The building on the right (partial image) was built in 1913 beside the old Pharmacy and first did business as Fairhope Fruit and Confectionery Store selling ice cream cones, candies, nuts, tobacco products and other sundries. From the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation Archives, Fairhope Museum of History Collection. |
