Photograph of Grace E. Parker with her little dog in Montrose, Alabama, standing by a satsuma bush. The picture is dated November, 1924. Mrs. Parker and husband Prescott A. Parker moved to Fairhope in December,1899 from Massachusetts with their son and daughter, Harry and Bertha. They later moved to Volanta and the Montrose area. The Parker property was adjacent to Tolstoy Park, the property owned by Henry Stuart (Henry James Stuart 1858-1946). The Parkers were friends and neighbors of Stuart's and there are several pictures of the Parker home and gardens in the scrapbook of photos compiled by Henry Stuart's family of pictures he sent to them during the years he lived in the Fairhope-Montrose area (1923-1944). Stuart's family donated the Stuart Scrapbook to the Fairhope Museum of History, along with three diaries and a small rug. Search these online archives for other photographs, the diaries and other information about Stuart and the Parkers.
