Photograph by Frank Stewart, The Picture Man, dated March 1915 of the corner of Fairhope Avenue and Section Street in downtown Fairhope, Alabama. The picture looks northwest, with Henry Crawford's General Merchandise Store (also called Crawford's Cash Store) at the northwest corner, and Mrs. Anne B. Call's Millinery Shop (which would become The Pinequat Shop) next door. The People's Rail Road car is on the tracks and is being pulled by a mule ("Old Jack" mule would be replaced by a gasoline engine) going west towards Mobile Bay, and is advertising a traveling musical "lyceum" slated for March 12,1915 featuring a soprano, a violinist and a pianist. The second photo if from a 1915 promotional brochure titled "Fairhope on Mobile Bay" and shows the interior of the store. Go to PMG-4057-4092) to see the full brochure.
