Photograph of the First Baptist Church in Fairhope, Alabama. The church was located on the southeast corner of Church Street and Morphy Avenue and was built in 1921 when the original church (built 1915 on what is now St. James Avenue became too small). In 1955 the congregation bought property on Section Street from Felix Beiser, and built a new church to accommodate growth. Search "Baptist" in these online archives for additional information about the First Baptist Church of Fairhope. This building became the Baldwin County Satellite Courthouse for several years. It now is the home of Fairhope's community theater group, Theatre 98, From the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation Archives. Courtesy of the Fairhope Museum of History, Donelson Collection. |
