Photographs dated 1916 and 1918 by Frank Stewart, The Picture Man, titled "The Kanuck-Fairhope Ala." The Kanuck Hotel opened in 1914 and was located on the south side of Fairhope Avenue between Church Street and Summit Street. Originally the residence of physician Dr. R. A. Hail, the building became a boarding house about 1914. The original structure is shown in the first picture, and the 1918 addition is seen in the second photo.
