    Letter dated 3/15/1949 to Frances Roberts in West Point, Georgia from C. A. Gaston, secretary of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation, and son of principal founder, E. B. Gaston. C. A. Gaston is responding to Roberts' request for background on Fairhope's founding. Gaston writes a three-page synopsis of the experience, beginning with the founders' study of Bellamy and George. An interesting read from his perspective.

  5. ii.12.49-51 - Letter

    Letter dated 4/30/1894 to E. B. Gaston from William Schemenour of Waterville, Ohio. He is commenting on the submission of his application for membership in the Fairhope Industrial Association. He says he has read widely on economic issues and says "there is no work that eagles George's and when I am tired and weary, I take down my bible Progress & Poverty." Schemenour calls himself a mechanic and jack of all trades.

    Letter written to E. B. Gaston from S. Butler of Cleveland, Ohio dated 07/13/1894. Butler "thinks well" of Gaston's proposed colony and asks questions about work possibilities. He has read Looking Backward, Progress and Poverty, recognizes Gaston's plan to follow Georgist philosophy. He mentions what he is currently reading (Coming Nation, Progressive Thinker). He had considered joing the Waylands (Ruskin) Colony but was too old.
