The water works now has a balance on debt of $2000, and half is due.     Letter dated 7/26/1906 to Joseph Fels from James Bellangee responding to Fels letter of 7/23/1906. He feels that Fels does not understand his point of view with regards to the waterworks system. Apparently stung by Mr. Fels comment that he had "heard no other dissenting voices beyond Mr. Bellangee's and Mr. Call's" he enumerates the many Single Taxers who are against the proposition along with him.

    Letter dated 1/9/1895 to E. B. Gaston from J. Axel Haggstrom of Chicago. Haggstrom has not been able to sell his farm in Nebraska and he is out of work, so he has not made his payments to the Fairhope Industrial Association. He enclosed a $.10 penalty and asks what chances there are of work in Fairhope in a "saw mill, garden farm or anything."

    Letter dated 10/5/1897 to E. B. Gaston from J. A. Haggstrom of Chicago, Illinois, requesting a subscription to the Fairhope Courier newspaper. He comments that he believes Fairhope is governed by single tax principles - in spite of reports. Gaston has used the back of this letter as scrap paper to compute some Colony finances.
