Davidson, a music teacher in San Angelo, Texas, continuing his correspondence with Gaston touting the benefits of locating the porposed colony in Texas instead of Louisiana. Davidson, concerned about mosquitos and swamps, says "I would sooner live on corn bread and milk with fish and pecans and enjoy the robust health vouchsafed by this climate than to roll in wealth and have my system full of malaria." |
