Description |
Student paper, a thesis for the Distinguished Majors Program at the Univerisity of Virginia dated 1986 by Michael J. Faherty and titled "The Communitarian Impulse 1885-1900." This thesis is included in the Paul M. Gaston papers of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation. Dr. Gaston was the Corcoran Professor of History at the Univeristy of Virginia, and, while not documented, he was likely involved in Faherty's thesis board. The thesis discusses the economic, social and political environment in the late 19th century U.S and the efforts by different groups in the communitarian movement (including the Fairhope Colony) to address these issues.
