Letter to the Editor |
Description |
Letter the the Editor of The Item from Anne B. Call of Fairhope, Alabama on August 11, 1905. It seems a person is writing anonymous letters to the editor and signing it "Philosopher". Over half of the resident members of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation sent a petition asking that The Item (newspaper) change the correspondent to the paper as a large amount of controversial items regarding the Fairhope Single Tax Colony have been published for weeks. Her letter tries to correct some of the issues: the "Patriots" thinking the petition has more behind it although Mrs. Call feels six months of one-sided news is more than enough; that the laws of Alabama govern the Colony; and that the "autocratic loyalists" had even tried to put forth a comprise ticket for the positions of secretary and the treasurer of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation. She states that she is not writing more on this subject even if the correspondant continues to the amuse the people of Mobile with his letters. |
