Description |
Letter written to E. B. Gaston on March 12, 1894 from J. W. Gaskines of St. James City, Florida. He mentions many other colonies such as the Freeland colony, Brook Farm, and Topolobampo and says that colonies founded on an economic basis have all been failures and disbanded. He talks at length about Florida, the tomatoes, freedom from frost, mosquitos, etc. He recommends Florida as a good place to start a co-operative colony and also southern California. |
