Description |
Letter dated 1/8/1909 to E. B. Gaston from Joseph Fels in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Fels has just met with Tom L. Johnson, whom he terms a "brick" and one who is "keeping up the fight (i.e. for the single tax) with just as much bravery as ever. He also plans to meet soon with Bolton Hall and other single taxers in New York soon. Fels includes a letter from Dr. Carr (see vii.3.5) and discusses his meeting with Carr whom Fels terms "a little off." Carris angry with R. F. Powell about Powell's handling of some barges (possibly sunk) near the manure wharf in Fairhope of which Carr has financial interest. Carr says Powell has bungled the project and is going to take action. Fels wants Gaston to know about the situation and says Gaston should try to alleviate the situation by trying to get the old barges legally removed. |
