Letter dated March 1, 1937 from Henry Stuart, The Hermit of Montrose, in Montrose, Alabama to the Secretary of the Loyalty Fund at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. Stuart is responding to a letter requesting donations to the College's Loyalty Fund. He states he would never contribute to a college "that turns out orthodox preachers." He goes on to say that he has "been fighting war, militarism and orthodoxy" and has been trying to show how to live a better and simpler way of life at Tolstoy Park in Montrose.
