Meeting Minutes of the Fairhope Industrial Association dated April, 20, 1896. H. C. Schakel presented report of wharf business. Committee on Lamp reported having ordered lamp, not yet received. Committee on Press (S. S. Mann and E. B. Gaston) not ready to report. G. A. Mershon presented bid for road signs. Bid accepted. S. S. Mann presented plan for platting land north of Schalkenbach tract. Moved and carried that plan was accepted. Also two 5 acre lots applied for by S. S. Mann on behalf of L. C. Mann and S. E. Mann be granted. Application or H. C. Schakel for half of 16 1/2 acre lot was discussed. E. B. Gaston reported filing an application for the whole 16 1/2 lot on behalf of the Mershon Brothers. Question of dealing with duplicate applications was discussed and laid over for one week. H. C. Schakel presented complaint of J. H. Springer that his land was not laid off square. Moved and carried that Superintendant of Lands and Highways (S. Vander Meulen) remeasure lines of lots. C. L. Coleman applied for the use of the Fairhope Industrial Association building for the purpose of meeting to consider advisability of organizing a labor exchange. Moved that Association members work on Thursday on the 80' street. |
