Correspondence of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation (letters E-F), namely that of E. B. Gaston, secretary, dated 1930-1936. Most are requests for information about the single tax colony, some from individuals who are considering a move to Fairhope, others who are inquiring for class projects/research purposes/general info purposes. Many letters provide insight (through Gaston's eyes) about life in Fairhope. 3.24.6-14 includes correspondence (1932-1935) between Gaston and Charles R. Eckert of Pennsylvania who was an early member of the Colony as the Fairhope Industrial Association. Eckert later became a member of Congress. Gaston calls him a "tried and true disciple of Henry George." In 3.24.75 Gaston gives some personal information about his family's summer comings and goings in 1931. |
