Description |
Correspondence and documents of the Fairhope Public Library dated 1952-1957. Includes receipts for books and magazines purchased for the Library, noting the titles of books in some cases. A pamphlet published by The Theosophical Society in America (no date) titled "Reincarnation: What It Really Is." and correspondence with State of Alabama Public LIbrary Service Division are included among other items. Pages 55-57 is correspondence to and from Dr. Emma Lila Fundaburk about her upcoming publication about Indian Art, and her request to photograph some Native American relics in the Library Museum. (The Library had a Museum starting in 1924.) NOTE: Dr. Fundaburk and her sister Mary Douglass Fundaburk Foreman were the joint editors of "Sun Circles and Human Hands; the Southeastern Indians, Arts and Industries," published by the University of Alabama Press in 1957 (with several reprints).
