Description |
Letter dated 6/18/1897 to Bolton Hall from J. H. Springer who at one time lived in Fairhope but has returned to Indianapolis, Indiana where he was from. He is critical of Fairhope and feels that the promoters of Fairhope have misrepresented the possibilities of making a living at farming there. Many people who have moved there have lost what little money they had. He sites George Pollay, Henry Schakel, John Ettel, S. Vander-Meulen, Rev. August Dellgren, Jasper Kearns and George Young as examples in addition to himself. He writes the letter to warn other Single Taxers who may be considering a move to Fairhope. |
