Description |
Letter dated 5/17/1897 to E. B. Gaston from S. Howard Leech of Chicago, Illinois. Leech is writing for his partner Frank L. Brown, and signs the letter "Brown and Leech." Leech is reporting on progress to move to Fairhope and start a sawmill and cotton gin. He and Brown plan to take a few days and buy needed equipment in Chicago, and then leave for Fairhope in a few days. Leech tells Gaston they are putting in a first-class sawmill with attachments which willl be able to make anything needed. They want business from all over the county, not just Fairhope, and they are not going to put in a cheap mill.. They plan to arrive in Fairhope a few days ahead of their equipment arriving, and ask Gaston to make arrangements with Capt. Lawrence to transport the mill across the bay from Mobile. |
