Letter dated 2/16/1906 addressed to The Public Publishing Company in Chicago, Illinois, from Joseph Fels of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Fels is writing from London, England. He reminds the The Public newspaper staff that he recently sent a $1,000 check for a subscription for stock, and that he had said he would consider donating funds to the fund to increase the circulation of The Public. However, he has decided not to do this at this time. Fels is wondering why The Public is ignoring the Fairhope Colony and has published no articles about what he considers to be the "most valuable experiment being made in the world today to prove our theories." Fels strongly suggests The Public send a reporter to Fairhope to stay at least a week to look over the Colony. He hopes to hear from The Public about their intent to learm more about Fairhope and report on it in the newspaper. He gives them E. B. Gaston's name as contact; he says Gaston is "of the right stripe." |
