Letter dated 1/28/1929 to the Members of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation from E. B. Gaston, Secretary submitting to them a full report of preceedings at a special meeting held on 1/26/1929. Prior to the meeting, on 1/21/1929, a petition was presented to the Council calling for a referendum election to vote on whether the present form of application for lease be discontinued and the form which was used previously should be reinstated. At a meeting on 1/22/1929, the Trustees held that the proposed referendum was in violation of the constitution and this view was confirmed by Jas. H. Webb, attorney for the corporation. (His letter is included in the report). |
