Letters between L. R. Clements in Knoxville, Iowa dated February 26,1936 and E.B. Gaston in Fairhope, Alabama dated February 28, 1936. Clements (age 82) is writing Gaston to catch up on the Fairhope Colony and expresses opinions about the state of the Single Tax movement. Gaston responds with information about his family, the state of affairs in Fairhope, and his opinions about the Georgist movement, land speculation and other issues of the day. Gaston mentions Pennsylvania U.S. Congressman Charles Eckert who is a member of the FSTC. L. R. Clements was part of the group of single taxers in Des Moines, Iowa which incorporated the Fairhope Industrial Assoication (the prescursor to the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation) in early1894.
