Correspondence (P, Q) of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation dated 1931-1954. 5.3.11-23 contains some interesting correspondence from Aostolos Papdeas. In a 10/24/1953 letter he explains that he is a Greek who came to the United States about six years ago. He is an economist, a Georgist and was involved in the cooperative movement in Greece. He has been in Mobile for six weeks working as an economist at the Malbis Bakery Company. He is interested in meeting C. A. Gaston and "the other gentlemen of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation". He includes an outline of a course he taught in the Ancient and Medieval History of Economic Thought. 5.3.25-32 contains some interesting writings by Prescott A. Parker who was born in Acton, Massachussets, was a member of the Worcester Single Tax Club, and moved to Fairhope 12/19/1899. An article about Spanish Fort and which was published in the Mobile Register 7/11/1927 is included. 5.3.129-135 contains correspondence between C. A. Gaston and Mrs. Lillian Totten. The Fairhope Single Tax Corporation seeks to buy her property on Morphy Avenue for a site for the public high school. |
