Letter dated 11/11/1907 To the Friends of the Single Tax Everywhere by Henry Borst, M. D., a medical doctor in Siliverhill, Alabama. Borst, a single-taxer, writes of his experiences and observations after living in Fairhope from 1904-1907. He left Fairhope because he was unable to make a living there, but has moved a few miles away and still observes the Colony. He is overall very sympathetic to the Fairhope single taxers and the administration of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation, and observes that most of the complaints come from non-single taxers and those unwilling to work hard for the cause. He details the plight of the farmer dealing with the area's poor soil, but at the same time says the conditions of the soil allow for good water and a more sanitary environment. He offers his letter for publication. |
