Description |
Newspaper clipping of an excerpt of Fairhope Singe Tax Meeting Minutes dated 11/22/1911 concerning a committee report about transfering the water plant from the FSTC to the Town of Fairhope. Committee members H. C. Oswalt, W. E. Sweet and James Bellangee recommended the transfer and proposed a plan for those individuals who paid a fee to established the water works to be given a credit for that investment. In addition, the committee recommended that the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation set aside a lot for municipal use for a fire department, and that the site of the well and pumping station be deeded to the Town of Fairhope so long as the site was used for the water department. The FSTC Council deems the report too vague in some respects and unfair in others - i.e. the credit plan for those whose connection fees made the water works possible initially are not treated fairly. Consequently the Council rejects the committee's recommendation and abandons the idea of municipalization of the water works and intends to put it in the best condition possible within its power. A committee was appointed to recommend how to improve the water works system was formed: Paton, Gaston and F. D. Troup were named to the committee. From the papers of Anne Bellangee Call. |
