Description |
Letter written to E. B. Gaston on September 26, 1895 from L. E. Brickell of Watertown, South Dakota. Gaston has written an appeal for help from single taxers in the Fairhope Courier to carry out the Fairhope plan. Brickell says that single taxers are generally poor and that what little money they have is tied up presently but to offer some encouragement, he is sending $10.00 to apply to the Land Fund and $3.00 to apply to the Wharf Fund. He goes on to describe a medium of exchange where labor in production of public improvements would be exchanged for a community certificate which would become a legal tender. |
