Description |
Letter written to E. B. Gaston on 1/27/1894 from C. Lindstrom, Kans. He has read Gaston's Liberty Bell article on new proposed colony and there were hundreds of people planning to join Topolobampo Colony and could not do so, but many families are anxious to join forces with some cooperative effort. He would hope that all could unite upon one organization and one model community. He tells Gaston that an organization like his has just started in Denver. He hopes Gaston will correspond with C. E. Smith who had been involved with Topolobampo. He and Mr. Porter spent several months in Arizona and describes the area and climate conditions. There was an area that had been cultivated by the Papago Indians but they were killed and driven out by the Apaches. The altitude was about 2000 feet, sufficient water to irrigate, lovely climate year round, timber and copper and silver deposits. He wants one of Gaston's people to go with him to explore this area. It is also within 50 miles of the Southern Pacific Line. |
