Letter to the editor of the Fairhope Courier newspaper dated 7/12/1926 from Anne Bellangee Call in support of the single tax and the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation. She reports that she hears remarked that Fairhope would be "all right if it were not for the Single Tax." Call discusses the current issue at hand - street improvements, which are the responsibility of the Town of Fairhope, not the FSTC She says a Town representative recently reported to the FSTC Council that the "town was broke and much work needed to be done to preserve the last improvements from being washed away." Call wonders why, if the single tax is such a bad idea, the FSTC still has money after paying all personal property taxes of its lessees, its own taxes, and financing other community projects while the Town coffers are empty.
