Description |
Fairhope Courier newspapers for 1907, published every Friday. One issue, the March 15, 1907 paper, is missing but available on newspapers.com. A few pages are faint, but still legible. Papers from November-December have incorrect volume numbers. Interestingly, only one photograph (of the Steamer Fairhope II) was printed other than those which were advertisements. These historic papers are scanned using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and are keyword searchable in your browser. Some topics in 1907: The wharf, which was mostly destroyed in the 1906 hurricane, was rebuilt, however revenue from wharfage fees was lost; the November 15th and 23rd editions had an overview of the FSTC; the FSTC cut timber on unleased Colony land for another revenue source; telephone service was expanded; fire continued to be an issue, destroying several homes and businesses; Marietta Johnson began offering Organic education classes; issues within the FSTC, and many other topics.
