Letter to the editor of the Mobile Daily Item newspaper from William Call in Fairhope, Alabama. Call is writing about errors in columns which have been published in that paper under the title "Fairhope Facts" which he wants to correct. He discusses the errors of Mr. N. O. Nelson of St. Louis, Missouri as evidence that Nelson "has not a clear understanding of the situation and his remarks are only valuable as coming from one who has been successful in his own line of reform." Call counters the comments of E. Q. Norton, editor of the Daphne Standard newspaper correcting specific taxes and rents for Mrs. M. E. Mead, Mrs. A. B. Call, Mr. E. B. Gaston and Mr. James Bellangee. Call gives specific information for each individual and calls out Norton for his inaccuracies and innuendos. Call says the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation is applying the principles of single tax as far as existing laws will permit and that all are benefited." He says it is time to put persoanlities aside, and that Fairhope has had trouble before, but has continued to prosper and grow. From the papers of Anne Bellangee Call. |
